ILIGAN CITY, PH | On April 26, 2024, eTanom hosted the 2024 Earth Day School Fair at Bethany Baptist Academy in Iligan City, Philippines. This engaging event brought together 135 K-12 students and their teachers to celebrate Earth Day and learn about tree planting and environmental conservation. The fair was designed to inspire the younger generation about sustainability and the importance of protecting our planet.

Celebrating Earth Day with Educational Activities

The Earth Day School Fair began with an interactive Tree Walk, where students explored various native and exotic tree species. They learned about the critical roles these trees play in maintaining biodiversity and supporting ecosystems. This hands-on experience was both fun and educational, fostering a deeper appreciation for nature among the participants.

Following the Tree Walk, the event featured a program highlighting the environmental and social advocacies of six innovative startup companies. These startups shared their missions and demonstrated how their technologies contribute to a sustainable future. In the afternoon, students visited the startups’ booths, engaging with new ideas and solutions aimed at addressing environmental challenges.

Our Partners and Sponsors

We extend our gratitude to the Iligan City Association of Private Elementary and Secondary Schools (ICAPESS) for their support and for inviting four participating schools: Ficuva MPC Learning Center, St. Therese de Avila Academy, JAMN Academy, and Bethany Baptist Academy. Their involvement was key to the success of this event.

Special thanks to Baked Café, Chebon’s Kitchen, and the CCS Executive Council for their generous support and delicious contributions. We are also deeply grateful to Bethany Baptist Academy for providing the venue and ensuring the event ran smoothly.

eTanom’s Tree Planting Initiative

As part of their event registration fee, each student will sponsor the planting of a tree. This initiative supports our reforestation efforts by funding tree planting services from local planters in Mapulog, Naawan, Misamis Oriental. The trees will be planted during the rainy season between July and August this year. This effort not only helps offset the event’s carbon footprint but also fosters a sense of environmental responsibility in the students.
